The Acceler8 project was created in June 2015 with a main aim of making many new disciples throughout Coventry Diocese. It has been part funded by a substantial grant from the Church Commissioners. Acceler8 encourages churches through the two focuses of the Eight Essential Qualities of Healthy Growing Churches and mission and ministry to 20s and 30s. Our vision is for healthier, growing churches across the diocese which are attracting and encouraging younger congregation members.
As part of our successful bid, we have been able to employ two Healthy Churches Mentors, a 20s-30s Team Leader and ten 20s-30s Development Leaders so far. Each Development Leader has been placed in a church which has a high proportion of 20s-30s living in their parish. The Development Leaders will work alongside their vicars and congregations to help them in the discipleship of the younger generation. Throughout the project, we hope to learn a great deal about 20s-30s within the Church of England. This learning will be shared across deaneries and the diocese through activities and events organised by the Acceler8 Team.
It is our hope that many people will come to faith through the Acceler8 project as churches become healthier and attract younger members. We are also expecting to see an increase in 20s-30s entering the vocations process and becoming involved in diocese decision-making bodies.
