Thy Kingdom Come will culminate in Beacon Events - celebration services on the day of Pentecost - in Cathedrals and other venues in this country and beyond.

On Pentecost afternoon, Sunday 4th June 2017, everyone is invited to join us in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral for a festival of Prayer & Worship called Rise Coventry.

This free event will start at 2pm and will include:

  • A bring-and-share picnic in the Cathedral ruins - bring cakes, food, picnic chairs and rugs to share with your church, family or group. There will be some limited seating available within the cathedral ruins itself.
  • Live music by local Christians artists.
  • Interactive prayer stations around the Cathedral walls hosted by Coventry Prayer House. Come and pray for the different areas and spheres of influence in our city and beyond.
  • Bouncy Castles for younger children to enjoy on the grass adjacent to the Cathedral shop.
  • Free tea & coffee will be provided.
  • More yet to be announced!

From 4pm - 5.30pm, the Bishop of Coventry will lead us as we move into an informal service of prayer and praise in the ruins:

  • Worship will be led by a band who are part of the Warwick 20s-30s Acceler8 project.
  • Stories of lives changed by Jesus followed by baptisms and confirmations right in the heart of the Cathedral ruins. If you would like to get baptised or confirmed at this service, please talk to your parish priest.
  • Pentecost led prayer for Coventry, Warwickshire, the churches and the nations.
  • There will be a chance to receive prayer - especially for those who are starting new things or are sensing a new opportunity lies ahead.

What you need to know:

  • Rise Coventry is free and no tickets are required.
  • It is open to everyone - please invite your friends, family and church.
  • If you can, bring a picnic and chairs/rugs and we recommend you arrive early if you are coming with a larger group and want a good view.
  • Bring sunscreen /umbrellas and plenty of water to drink.
  • In the event of serious weather preventing the event from taking place in the ruins, we will move indoors into the new Cathedral.
