Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's
20/11/17

The Collegiate Church of St Mary's in Warwick is the beautiful setting for the annual Christmas Tree Festival, which opens on Warwick Victorian Evening, Thursday 30th November and continues until Sunday 10th December 2017.

St Mary's Christmas Tree festival has been a popular event in Warwick for many years. Local businesses, charities and schools decorate Christmas trees to be displayed in the church. Visitors to the festival can vote for their favourite Christmas tree and be entered in to a prize draw. Previous trees have been decorated with knitted red poppies, gold and silver origami cranes, flowers and bells.

On Victorian Evening, the ever popular Hand Bell ringing demonstration will take place, mulled wine and mince pies will be served and the evening will be rounded off with a short carol service at 8.45pm. Local school choirs will sing Christmas songs on the 1st December in a free concert, starting at 10am. At 12.30 there will be the opportunity to join a Guided Tour of St Mary's, including the beautiful Beauchamp Chapel for £3. The Pop Up Café will be serving tea, coffee and homemade cakes on the Friday and Saturday of both weekends from 10am - 4pm.

On Saturday 9th December, there will be a number of events taking place. The Mayor of Warwick, Stephen Cross, will be visiting the Christmas Tree Festival at 11am and you are invited to join him for tea and cake. For younger guests, there will be another visitor to the Christmas tree festival. Santa will be coming to admire all the trees at 11am and looks forward to meeting people! Also, 'De Capo' an a cappella chamber choir will be singing at 11am and 1pm, filling the church with their beautiful sound. At 2pm the Guild of Bell Ringer's Carol Service will take place, with refreshments. In the evening, there will be the Carols and Canapés concert. Starting at 7.30pm, Christmas music will be sung by Scholars and afterwards there will be mulled wine and festive food.

Admission to the Christmas Tree Festival on Victorian Evening is 50p and is £1 after. Tickets to the Carols & Canapés concert cost £12.50 and can be purchased from St Mary's gift shop (01926 403940). For more information about the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's see their website.
