St Chad's new Community Hall
23/07/18

The newly renovated church hall at St Chad's, Woodend was officially opened on Wednesday 4th July by the Bishop of Coventry, the Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth; the Lord Mayor of Coventry, John Blundell; Councillor, Pat Seaman and Churchwarden, Lorraine Page.

The Bishop and Lord Mayor spoke with great enthusiasm about the improvements to the church hall. They congratulated the work carried out by the supporters of St Chad's and how the community of Woodend is now able to celebrate and enjoy this positive regeneration project for years to come. The day was well attended by local councillors and residents who all enjoyed the school choir from Moat House School.

The celebrations continued on Saturday the 7th July where local residents and the community of Woodend were able to view the new facilities and enjoy a family fun day with a free bouncy castle, arts & crafts and refreshments.

The hall, which is available to hire, includes newly refurbished toilets, contemporary lighting, ceiling and floor coverings. Most of the materials, including the lighting and flooring are sympathetic to people who suffer with restricted sound and vision and the flooring is especially sympathetic to dementia suffers and autistic children.

Churchwardens Lorraine and Lyndsey said,

“Following a 12-month fund raising campaign our community hall is now an attractive and modern venue for all ages to enjoy. We anticipate that many more family parties and activities will choose the St. Chad’s Hall for their events.”

This has all been made possible thanks to a large grant from WREN and various local and national grant giving organisations.

We are also in the process of improving our outdoor area and expanding our secure onsite parking facilities."

St. Chad’s Hall is now a community space for use by residents, families and friends, local businesses and St Chad’s Church. For more information email: woodendstchads@gmail.com
