City Praise and Prayer

Over the years there have been countless different expressions of united prayer in Coventry, for Coventry. In the last five years, one of the main expressions of such prayer has been 'City Praise and Prayer.'

Martin Storey, who leads CLM with his wife Esther, has helped to co-ordinate the evenings with a group of other leaders. He recalls;

“When City Praise and Prayer began, it was a really uncomplicated idea – simply to unite Christians regardless of denomination, network or stream of church, to lift up Jesus together in worship and pray for God’s kingdom to come in our city. We were stunned on the first night when around 800 people turned up. Our marketing hadn’t been that good! It seemed to reflect an appetite to pray together and faith to see God move.”

The evenings are always led by a number of different church leaders and worship is led by a band of musicians and singers gathered from a variety of different churches.

Bishop Christopher has been a keen supporter of City Praise and Prayer since it began and has made a significant contribution to the gatherings each time. He observes;

"City Praise and Prayer is an invigorating opportunity to worship with others who confess the name of Christ in Coventry and to pray as one people for our city, and our common Christian witness to it. Each time we gather, I am really encouraged by the energy of the Coventry Churches and their commitment to work together for the kingdom of God. It is always a great event, faith and joy filled. So come and praise and pray together with Christians from across the city!"

The next gathering is on Sunday 11 November at 6.30pm at the Welcome Centre. Free parking is available at and near the venue. We recommend you come early to secure a seat in the main auditorium.
