Bishop dedicates Bablake Faith Centre

On the 27th February 2019, Bishop Christopher opened and dedicated Bablake School's new faith centre.

The Bishop was joined by the Lord Mayor as well as representatives of Langar Aid, the Coventry Muslim Forum, Coventry School Foundation Governors as well as colleagues and friends of Bablake.

Pupils and staff from all faiths brought religious artefacts to the oratory and read passages from their holy scriptures. Both the Bishop and the Headmaster spoke about the spirit of peace, reconciliation and tolerance, the importance of respect for our differences and rejoicing at the Bablake community coming together in the Faith Centre. The Bishop blessed the Chaplaincy, Oratory and anointed Revd Sacha Slavic, the Bablake Chaplain.

Mr John Watson, Headmaster, said;

"I am truly delighted that we now have a quiet place at the heart of our busy community for pupils, staff and visitors to reflect, to pray, to question, to wonder and to meet together. Our school has a Christian foundation, yet today we celebrate the rich diversity of our backgrounds and our beliefs.

I pray that our Faith Centre and our chaplaincy will be a refuge for mutual support and comfort in times of trouble, a place to share our joys, a source of strength as we serve our neighbours, and a haven for those of all faiths and none as we seek to make sense of our beautiful yet complex world and of our lives here and in eternity."

Going forward, various meetings will take place in the new faith centre, including Morning Prayer every morning.
