Welcome to our new Safeguarding Adviser

Following the retirement of Carol Clarke at the end of last year, we have welcomed Sarah Price as our new Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser.

Sarah Price grew up in Coventry before going to the University of Exeter to study a BA in Childhood and Youth Studies. Whilst there she was involved in a charitable organisation Community Action which supported vulnerable children, young people and adults. Sarah was a member of their committee and led projects for vulnerable children.

Sarah’s voluntary work led her to pursue a vocation in Social Work. Following her degree she moved to Nottingham to study an MA in Social Work at the University of Nottingham. During her course she gained experience including supporting adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities and working with the Youth Justice Service. After gaining her qualification she joined Nottingham City Council and has worked in a variety of social work roles including child protection and early intervention services. Sarah was also a practice educator supporting and mentoring social work students. In her last role she was managing a child protection team responsible for working with children who are identified to be at risk.

Sarah has a passion for social justice, during her time in Nottingham she was involved in a number of projects as part of her local church including setting up a soup run which supported adults who were vulnerable due to issues including homelessness and substance misuse. Sarah has also been involved in other areas of ministry including children’s work and pastoral support. Sarah permanently moved back to Coventry in 2019 and is a member of St Marks Church in Coventry. Sarah in her spare time enjoys being creative, staying active and travel.

Diocesan Secretary, Ruth Marlow says:

"I am delighted to be welcoming Sarah to join the Diocesan Safeguarding Team. Sarah is bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for making the church a safe place for all, I am looking forward to working with her in this challenging , but rewarding role."

We are excited to welcome Sarah to the diocese, please pray for her as she settles into her new role.
